NUC Approved New Grade System For Universities




The National Universities Commission, NUC is no longer using a scale of 5, the new system is based on a scale of 4. First Class is 3.5 – 4. Second Class is 3 – 3.49. Second class lower is 2.0 – 2.99.

According to NUC Chairman,Professor Shehu Galadanchi released to all Nigerian Universities
The Newly Approved Grading System For University Under the new Four (4)-Point Grading Scale, grades to be used for students who have satisfactorily completed the course of study are as follows:

Letter Grade: Marks Grade Point
A (70 and above) 4
B (60-69%) 3
C (50-59%) 2
D (45-49%) 1
E (40-44%) 0

CGPA Ranges under the new Four (4)- Point Grading Scale for Classification of Degrees:
3.5- 4.00 – First Class Honours
3.0-3.49 – Second Class Honours (Upper Division)
2.0-2.99 – Second Class Honours (Lower Division)
1.0-1.99 – Third Class Honours

No student whose CGPA is less than 1.0 shall be awarded a degree.

Deans of Faculties and Heads of Departments are enjoined to ensure compliance and commencement of the new regulations with the intakes of 2017/2018 Session, while the old regulations remain applicable to students admitted before the 2017/2018 Session.

Hostel Reform Bill Pass Into Law





The bill which was sponsored by Senator Chidiebere Onyishi representing Department of political science was passed into law on 14th March.

The bill passed into law, which seek for equal and equitable representation of school hostel at Students Union Government. With the law now in place, the Parliament shall create a seven man committee headed by a chairman who must be a hosteler.

A sum of 300,000 will be allocated every session to the committee to help them in running the school hostel along side with the hostel executive.

Accident Victim, Alive And Well



The University community woke up in the morning of saturday 17th March 2018 to the rumour that one of the victims of the accident that happened along Amodu expressway on Friday 16th March, a 400level student from faculty of management sciences lost her life in the accident.

On hearing that, today being Sunday 18th March 2018 the SUG president Hon. Comr. Moses Ugochukwu Anichebe along with ESUTSTUDENTSONLINE TEAM visited the victims of the accident at UNTH and discovered that , the innocent girl is alive and in good condition, just a broken arm and it was confirmed by the hospital management that no single soul was lost in the accident, and they went further to say that other victims of the accident has been discharged, only the girl and the driver of the vehicle whom they shall discharge soon.

The girl in question is not a 400level student neither is she from faculty of management sciences. She simply identified her self as Nnamani Ebube, a 100level student from the department of Applied Micro Biology (AMB).

On the words of the SUG president, he assured the victim family the support of his government and the students of the university if the need arises.

Good Evening The Great People of ESUT.
It is with Joy that I write to report to the entire students the situation of things in the union which they sent me to be part of the executives.
I write with Joy not because I am happy with situation of things but I am glad with the support we got from the entire students and school management in the fight against corruption . 
We have set a big standard and a benchmark for the next Government and pray they don't disappoint the Students.
The mantle of leadership has been handed over to me sequel to the suspension of the President and I promise to serve the students in the best way I can.
We the remaining executives promise to be more transparent and accountable in all we do. We have recovered part of the money and we will make sure that we recover all.
I sincerely and heavily appreciate all who stood by the truth and called a spade a spade despite all that was offered to them to keep silent,
